Deering High School is alive with excitement as students dive into a variety of clubs and activities! From crafting masterpieces in Fiber Friday to debating current events, there's something for everyone. Whether you're passionate about science, art, or social justice, you'll find a welcoming community to explore your interests.

We encourage all students to get involved and make the most of their high school experience. Join a club, start a new one, or simply attend meetings to learn more. Your participation not only enriches your own life but also contributes to the vibrant culture of Deering High School.

Parents and community members can play a vital role in supporting our students and their extracurricular activities. Consider volunteering your time, donating funds to support field trips and equipment, or simply attending events to show your support. By working together, we can create an even more dynamic and enriching environment for all students.

Best Buddies

Best Buddies offers opportunities for students with and without Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) to come together and build meaningful connections while creating a more inclusive school community. Students are invited to participate in monthly activities and can choose to be matched in one-to-one friendships between students with and without disabilities.

Black Student Union (BSU)

The Black Student Union at Deering High School is a space for young black students to be authentically themselves. BSU exists to celebrate black voices, black history, black culture, black resilience, education and unity. Through BSU students will create an inclusive environment where ALL students are welcome to partake in events, activities and dialogues centering the experiences of black youth. BSU is committed to uplifting ALL students by celebrating diverse cultures within the Black Diaspora, pushing for equity, promoting education as a vehicle for success and creating leadership opportunities for club members.

Breccia (DHS Literary Magazine)

Breccia is Deering’s Literary Magazine. The club works on combining students' art, literature and photography submissions into an annual book that documents the creative nature that Deering students bring into their school and daily life. A meeting's agenda usually consists of reading and voting on submissions or advertising for the book or the club. The club members are fun, honest and work together to publish wonderful and award-winning Literary Magazine.

Join the Drama Club to be a part of the tech team (lighting, costumes, set, backstage help) or to act up on the stage. We produce 3 shows each year. The Fall show is already in rehearsal. Check in December to find out how to get involved with the winter show or in March to get involved with the spring show. There is a place for everyone in The Deering Players!

Math Team

The DHS Math Team is a group of students studying and competing together in HS mathematics competitions. The members of the team are sometimes referred to as mathletes. Math teams are common throughout middle schools and high schools in North America. The DHS Match team competes in local, state and regional competitions monthly, called American Mathematics Competitions (AMC).

Media Club

A lot of the work takes place during school events and games, especially any Deering High School sports related events. The club works with the Athletic Department and DHS Social Media to to visually promote the happenings at DHS and also to promote school spirit. This club typically uses digital photography, videography, sound and editing tools.

Model U.N.

Model UN is an experiential learning activity for any student with an interest in knowing more about international issues. At the MeMUNC conference, each student is assigned to a country and committee of the UN. They assume the role of a delegate representing that nation to solve two major issues on the committee's agenda through negotiations with other delegates. Through research, debate, and resolution writing, students learn more about the world while developing a variety of useful skills. The club starts in February.

Programming Club

"Hi I am here to tell you that there is a new club called "the Programming Club" where the primary idea is to make us think like programmers do. Through this club, we are going to learn about computer fundamentals, algorithms, and programming languages such as C, python, javascript and many others. We will build our own project and work through group projects and most importantly, we will learn to work as a team. You will need a non-school computer in order to participate, and a strong interest in programming."
