We miss you!  We hope your family is doing well and staying healthy.
We are here for you if you need anything.  Please visit the Deering Remote Learning Commons to read announcements, access food and mental health supports, and connect with other Deering supports.

Checking In with Families
We want to check in with you and learn more about how you are doing.  Please take a few moments to fill out this survey.  It will give us a window into how Deering families are experiencing life and school in the shutdown and we will use this information to adjust our services.

IMPORTANT!  New Class Schedule for Deering
We also want to let you know that we are adjusting our school schedule to help students and teachers focus on their classes and not become overwhelmed.  Starting this Wednesday, April 1, students will only receive new content in two classes per day (work may still be due on any day, per the teacher).  And, every Wednesday will be reserved for office hours and catching up on work.  Teachers are still available to check in with your student any school day.  We hope this will help students slow down and go more in depth in each class.  Teachers will be assigning approximately 45 to 90 minutes of work per class (recognizing that this will vary by student!)  Here is the new schedule.

We are also introducing “windows” for live sessions.  Some teachers may choose to hold a “live” class by video during these windows.  Students who are not available at that time may still access the content at a different time, but we hope they take advantage of the chance to interact with their teachers and classmates if they can.

Students need to check in to the classes that meet.  Then, they will be considered present in that class until the next time that class meets.  So, for example, they need to check in to their Block 1 class on Mondays and Thursdays. If they have a Block 3 class, they need to check in on Tuesdays and Fridays.  Again - they are free to reach out for help from their teachers on any day.

We’re Learning Too!
We recognize that we are still learning how to best reach all of you!  We want you to feel connected to the community and engaged in meaningful, interesting educational experiences.  If you have ideas about how to design a better Remote Learning experience at Deering, email any of us with your ideas!

Stay curious, stay healthy, and stay in touch!
