Million Meals MaineDear Parents,

Students at Deering High School need your help! We are presently fundraising for the 2018 Million Meals Maine meal packing event, a collaborative experience we are organizing for all high school students in Portland and several surrounding districts. November 8-10, 2018 students and community members will work together as part of a genuine and meaningful service opportunity. Through this purposeful annual meal packing event, we can impact the lives of thousands of children and empower thousands of high school students in a unifying positive experience.

The approach is simple. Donors help fund the cost of meal ingredients (vitamins, vegetables, rice, and soy). Students and community volunteers hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and the meals are shipped to one of nearly 70 countries in need around the world. This year Deering and other participating schools in southern Maine have a goal of $66,000 for 300,000 meals. Please visit to learn more.

In 2015, 1,000 volunteers of all ages packed over 216,000 meals at Deering High School. In 2016, nearly 1,500 volunteers gathered again at Deering and packed 264,000+ meals. We are focusing on fundraising in 2018, with a goal of packing 300,000 meals in November.

Would you be willing to help us reach our goal?  There are multiple ways you can help:

      • $365 will feed a family of four for a year
      • Other amounts - all will help

If you are able to help, please respond to this email.  We will also follow up with you in a few days if you would like to make a donation for the online auction or if you have any questions regarding our fundraising efforts.

Thank you in advance for your contribution, any type of contribution truly helps out efforts.
