Students in grades 9–12 should order their copy of the 2026 Deering Amethyst for $45 by April 29 to ensure they receive this permanent record of their high school memories by May 29.

Following their historic first-place victory at the Maine State Science Olympiad Tournament, the Deering High School team has launched a $20,000 "Trajectory to Nationals" campaign to fund their trip to the national finals at USC, with the Foundation for Portland Public Schools matching all donations dollar-for-dollar.

On Thursday, April 16, the high school will implement a modified bell schedule to accommodate 10th-grade NWEA Reading and 11th-grade MEA Science assessments, while providing workshops for seniors and requiring all students to arrive well-rested with charged Chromebooks.

Deering High School will celebrate the academic excellence and character of its students during the 2026 Convocation of the National Honor Society and Junior Awards Night on April 16, featuring student orations, the formal induction of new members, and the reveal of prestigious university book awards and scholarships.

April 17 Culture Day: The Power of Representation, a celebration for our school community featuring high-energy sports, interactive global crafts, and a spectacular grand finale of traditional song, dance, and a student-led fashion show.

The Deering High School Junior & Senior Masquerade Ball takes place Saturday, May 9th, at 7 PM at O’Maine Studio, with $30 tickets going on sale April 13th for students who meet specific attendance, grade, and guest policy requirements.
