Middle School Design Session Sept. 16

The district is continuing to work with the Portland Public Schools community to design a middle school experience where each and every student feels a strong sense of belonging, is challenged and supported academically, and has meaningful learning experiences that prepare them for high school and beyond. Learn about the latest proposed plans and ideas at a Middle School Design Community Engagement session set for Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ocean Avenue Elementary School. Childcare will be available.

Since last spring, the district has been gathering input from families, staff and community members through surveys and engagement sessions to better understand community priorities and perspectives. Now, through an upcoming engagement opportunity with the whole PPS community and also separate sessions with staff and students, we will share the proposed plans and ideas that have been developed through the design process thus far and, most importantly, hear your feedback. What feels right? What needs to be strengthened or reconsidered? What might be missing?

We encourage everyone to attend. We need the voices and perspectives of our staff, families, students and community to help us continue to refine the design and ensure that the future of middle school in PPS reflects the needs, hopes and aspirations of our students and community.
