Warmth: Supporting Deering’s Ramily Market

Dear Community Members and Supporters of Deering High School,

With snow already on the ground, and single-digit mornings gripping our city, reliable, warm clothing is an absolute necessity for our students.

We recognize that the current economic climate makes giving difficult for many. Knowing that our students are the ones most in need, we turn to the wider community—those who follow us and wish to support high school students in the city of Portland, Maine—with a gentle, heartfelt plea for help.

The Ramily Market is a vital resource run by dedicated volunteer staff members on the Deering campus. It provides students with confidential and free access to essential dry goods, hygiene items, and, most critically right now, winter clothing.

🧣 What is Urgently Needed

As our students face the bitter cold on their way to school, your generosity can provide immediate relief. We are urgently seeking donations of winter clothing to keep them safe and warm.

We are specifically looking for:

  • Crucial Winter Gear: New or gently used heavy coats, snow or thick pants, sweaters, hats, gloves, and scarves.
  • Teenage Sizes: Items appropriate for high school students.
  • Current Styles: Please ensure the clothing reflects current styles teenagers prefer (business casual is generally not the look we need).
  • Cleanliness: We kindly ask that all gently used items be pre-washed before delivery.

📍 Drop-Off Information

If you are able to help, please drop off your thoughtful donations at the main office on the Deering High School campus at your earliest convenience. You can also connect with Jack Grande one of our social workers granj@portlandschools.org

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your extraordinary generosity and thoughtfulness. Portland has always been exemplary in showing up for one another, especially when the weather is this cold, and we are incredibly grateful for your support in keeping our students warm this winter.
