The Power of the Mic: Student Journalists Produce Live Radio Segments

Taking the mic and sharing their voices, two of our own students recently made their professional radio debut! Toby Romano and Aspen Willis-Howe teamed up with Blunt Youth Radio at WMPG to learn exactly what it takes to produce a real-world news story.

The duo spent time interviewing people around the building to create VoxPops, short, fast-paced audio clips that share the community's thoughts on important school topics. Their hard work was broadcast to listeners all over the area during the weekly radio show on Thursday, April 2nd.

The most exciting part of the project happened right in the studio. Toby and Aspen were invited to speak live on the air, answering questions and sharing their experiences behind the scenes. It was a wonderful opportunity for these young broadcasters to see how their classroom learning connects to the local community.
