Reflecting on a Season of Collaboration at Deering

The end of the year was defined by a series of purposeful opportunities for our school community to connect. These weren't just scheduled events; they were moments built by different departments and brought to life by the students and staff who showed up to make them happen.

Our Year-End Highlights:

  • Culinary Skill & Heritage: Students applied their culinary skills to share traditional home recipes, turning our end-of-the-year celebration into a thoughtful exchange of culture and flavor. Advisory Collaboration: Transforming our hallways required teamwork and design as students worked together to decorate their Advisory doors with intricate winter themes. Congratulations winners Ms. Mary Nance, Ms. Molly Callaghan, and Mr. Ryan Hutchins.
  • Cultural Engagement: Students took the initiative to engage with the arts by attending the annual performance of The Nutcracker Suite at the Merrill Auditorium.
  • Creative Craftsmanship + Party: Our winter arts and crafts sessions allowed students to make crafts and learn new art techniques and express their creativity.

The Power of Participation

What made this season stand out wasn't just the activities themselves, but the way students and staff chose to engage. The energy of our year-end celebrations was built through the genuine effort and skills of students and staff, who showed up for one another to share traditions, collaborate on creative projects, and learn together as a true community. It took collective effort and a lot of thoughtfulness to learn from one another so authentically. Looking back from the quiet of the break, it's clear how much we built together.
