Maine's Tech Future is Bright: Students Get a Glimpse

Computer Science Teacher Jonathan Graffius welcomed Matt Jones and Marcy Nichols from Tyler Technologies as guest presenters on CS Print & Digital Imaging. Approximately 40 students gained valuable insights into the tech industry in Maine through this presentation. Tyler Technologies highlighted the Maine App Challenge, a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their skills and potentially win scholarships. They also discussed internship possibilities and provided a realistic overview of what it's like to work for a tech company in Maine, particularly in the Portland area. This exposure is crucial for our current student learners as it bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications. Understanding the local tech landscape, including opportunities like the Maine App Challenge and internships at companies like Tyler Technologies, can significantly benefit their futures. For students interested in pursuing careers in technology, especially in Portland's growing tech sector, this knowledge provides a competitive edge. It allows them to start planning now, building their portfolios, and networking with professionals. The presenters generously provided food, t-shirts, and sunglasses, further enhancing the experience for the students.
