On a bright June morning at the Merrill Auditorium, the Deering High School Class of 2025 gathered for their momentous commencement exercises. The air thrummed with the traditional notes of "Pomp & Circumstance," performed by the Deering Music Ensemble, as the procession began. The ceremony marked a significant transition, guided by the words of several speakers. These included a welcome and address from Principal Dr. Jake Giessman , greetings by Superintendent Dr. Ryan Scallon , and introductions from student leaders Mya Landry and Khalid Mahamed. The speeches were delivered by Salutatorian Violet Blum Levine , Valedictorian Asa Tussing, and Ms. Halima Noor. As the reader, Mr. Cyle Davenport , announced each graduate—from Ilyas Abdirisaq to Isaac Zelonish —the stage was a vibrant display of achievement, adorned with the gold cords of high honors and the purple cords of varsity athletes. It was a day of collective pride, a turning of the tassels that signified not just an end, but a spirited launch, with memories captured by photographer Rhonda Farnham to be made available in a gallery on June 15th.
