Good Food, Fond Farewells: Wrapping Up the Year at Deering High School

Deering High School staff gathered in the café as the school year drew to a close, coming together for a family-style potluck filled with an abundance of wonderful homemade dishes. This afternoon of celebration and reflection provided the perfect opportunity to honor and say goodbye to several staff members who are retiring or moving on to new opportunities. The community shared fond farewells with a beloved member of the café crew, as well as Mr. Andrew Miller and Ms. Nirmala Young from the science department, and extended best wishes to Ms. Mel Moran for her next adventure. The school counseling team bid a special farewell to Mr. Shawn Kennedy, while the specialized services department celebrated the retirement of Ms. Janice Tevanian, recognizing how much she has helped countless students. Heartfelt goodbyes were also shared with Ms. Mary Wallace, celebrating her impactful years as an educator in the ESOL department.

Following the festivities and farewells, the afternoon concluded with a cherished campus tradition. The entire staff gathered to capture the spirit of the day with their annual group photo. They posed together in front of the "We Are All One School" mural, the vibrant artwork created by renowned muralist Ryan Adams that serves as a beautiful backdrop for the Deering community.
