Deering High School Winter Concert: A Celebration of Growth

The Deering High School music program reached an inspiring milestone this December during a winter concert that showcased the outstanding transformation of the school's performing arts. Since 2022, the program has seen a dramatic resurgence under the guidance of music teachers Bridget DePaola and Abby Hutchins; the school band has expanded from just four members to over 20, while the chorus has grown from a handful of participants to a robust group of 30. This expansion now includes an auditioned Chamber Choir of 11 students and a dedicated daily block for ensemble groups, reflecting a school culture where thriving arts and athletics lead to thriving students. The evening was made even more special by a warm opening from Assistant Vice Principal Ms. Carlie Frederick and a visit from former Deering choral director Mark Nordli, whose presence highlighted a long-standing legacy of musical excellence. This growth is evidence to the support of the entire Deering community, proving that when we invest in our students' passions, the results are truly harmonious.
