We wish to formally acknowledge the significant accomplishments of the Deering High School Model United Nations team at the recent Maine Model United Nations (MCMUN) conference, hosted by the University of Southern Maine. The delegation's performance underscores a deep engagement with complex global issues and a high level of preparation, continuing Deering's tradition of strong participation in this academic event.
Deering proudly fielded the largest delegation in the state, with an impressive 53 students participating. These dedicated delegates immersed themselves in rigorous debates, tackling a diverse range of critical global issues, including Extreme Heat, Maritime Security, Labor Rights, and the pursuit of Peace in the Balkans.
Individual recognition was awarded to several Deering delegates for their notable contributions within their respective committees:
- Honorable Mention Delegates: Eli Tuchinsky, Avery Stone, Charlie Dibble, and Ryan Roarty
- Distinguished Delegate: Noah Rasheed
- Best Delegate: Jack Borland
Deering High School's China Delegation has achieved the remarkable distinction of winning Best Large Delegation. This incredible team, essentially the State Champions of Maine Model UN, includes Colin Brown, Charlie Dibble, Jaela Mbadu, Zach Lee, and Eli Tuchinsky.
Congratulations to every single member of the Deering Model UN team. Each student challenged themselves throughout the demanding three-day conference. Thanks to Mr. Tyler Jellison, advisor and the hard work and intelligence of the team. We are incredibly proud of you.
