On January 17, the Deering Debate team competed at the Maine State House for the 2026 Congressional Championship. After a day of rigorous debating on topics ranging from the War Powers Act to PFAS funding, Deering emerged with major honors.

Noah Rasheed (Senior) and Ezri Pelletier (Sophomore) both took home individual State Championship titles, while Zachary Lee (Senior) earned 2nd Runner-Up. Their collective efforts earned Deering the State Runners-Up title for the Congressional division. Noah and Ezri will represent Deering at the NSDA National Tournament in Virginia this June.
