In May, the BRECCIA club, under the guidance of Ms. Tracey Menard, hosted a reading in the library to celebrate the newest edition of Deering High School's esteemed student literary magazine. During the event, Zach read compelling excerpts from the works of several talented student writers. Congratulations were extended to this year's contest winners for their outstanding contributions. In the poetry category, the winners were Ivayla Varbanova for "The Shifting of a Constant," Alma Wallace for "Bougainvillea," and Theodore Caiazzo for "Passion is Not Talent." The winning short stories were "The Columbidae Dilemma" by Zachary Lee, "Doomsday" by Alma Wallace, and "Violet Fell Out of the Orange Tree" by Yeva Kasabian. The complete 2024-2025 edition of Breccia is not yet published but will be available for all to enjoy upon the return to school in the fall.
