A Season of Balance: From the Popcorn Station to the Winter Holidays

Looking back at our busy semester, it’s wonderful to remember the moments that bring our community together. About a month ago, the halls of Deering were filled with the warm aroma of fresh popcorn—a perfect example of the "community breaks" we cherish. Science teacher and event coordinator Ms. Heather Sawyer is instrumental in bringing this energy to life, reminding us all that a balanced life requires a mix of academics, athletics, and genuine joy.

At the first-floor station near Mr. Graffius’s room, student Awod Deing (pictured here) was one of the many hands helping to share a treat and a smile. These on-campus moments were a prelude to the rest we are all experiencing now. As we enjoy our current winter break, we hope you take this time to truly unplug and recharge with that same spirit of balance. Whether it’s a quick popcorn break on campus or a long holiday at home, remember to savor the pause before we return to our studies.
