Portland Public Schools Alumni + Friends recently revealed the inaugural recipients of the Portland Public Schools Distinguished Alumni Award, to be honored at Spring for Teachers! Among them is Joe Foley, a notable member of the Deering High School Class of 1997. Foley, a former standout student-athlete, has returned to his alma mater as a dedicated teacher, coach, and mentor to current Deering athletes. Throughout his tenure, he has contributed his expertise to basketball, lacrosse, and football teams, fostering a supportive and energetic environment for students. Described by one nominator as embodying a profound passion for education, sports, and the Portland community.
