Today, we pause to express our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Kirsten Platt, a fantastic teacher and mentor who has made an indelible impact at Deering High School over the course of many years. Her devotion to teaching has touched the lives of countless individuals within our community. As Ms. Platt embarks on the next chapter of her life in retirement, we extend our deepest thanks for all the contributions she has made to Deering. Your love for our school has left an enduring legacy, and you will be sincerely missed.
In a recent farewell message addressed to the Deering staff earlier this week, Ms. Platt wrote: “ I have loved working at Deering with all of you and with the best students in the state. I'm so glad I've had a career here.”
During the retirement celebration held on Wednesday, Ms. Jessica Bean paid tribute to Ms. Platt, stating, “Kirsten connects with students because she’s truly interested in them. She is someone that our alumni always mention as influential. She seeks and accepts feedback, and she’s been an advocate through Youth Court and exploring restorative practices. She’s always been a champion of student voice and equity.“
