Please take a moment to read a note from Deering's Extended Learning Opportunities Coordinator, Sydney Williams:

I am hoping to shine some bright light on this dark time by sharing an ELO update about a wonderful opportunity our DHS students participated in this past Wednesday.

Khalid, Mekhi & Julio (Kamosi) and myself attended a tour of BIW's training center by SMCC MidCoast campus in Brunswick. We got to see classroom spaces, gathered in a replica of a BIW ship. We engaged with their virtual reality simulation in welding, safety protocols and crane operations (left). The guys asked great questions, engaged in the Q&A and networked with BIW leaders in both mechanical and engineering departments. All walked away with a prospect of an interview for an apprenticeship in their senior year of high school.
