Deering HS is bursting with pride this year! Our students are constantly going above and beyond, actively involved in the vibrant city of Portland. Portland offers a unique environment where high schoolers can thrive as volunteers, interns, and learners.

Today, we'd like to celebrate one such fantastic student, Merritt Holman, for her incredible summer achievements! Merritt wasn't just busy with summer fun, she was also making a real difference in the community through volunteering. Her dedication was recently recognized with the prestigious title of Young Maine Volunteer of the Year 2024!

We're incredibly proud of Merritt's passion for the creative arts and the positive impact she's making. Merritt dedicates her time to volunteering at the Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine (CMTM). There, she plays a vital role in both main-stage productions and assisting with young theater classes.
