Deering High School: A Place for Engagement! Hear from a Student

Anja Heiden, Deering High School's student representative to the school board, recently delivered a compelling speech highlighting the school's achievements and offerings. Ms. Heiden emphasized the significance of Deering's 150th anniversary and its longstanding motto of "all one school," fostering a unified school community. She showcased the vibrant extracurricular landscape with over 30 clubs and the upcoming Cultural Day celebrating the school's diverse student body, with languages representing over 30 nationalities spoken on campus. Ms. Heiden specifically commended the Girls Who Code program for empowering young women and highlighted student-led projects that contribute positively to both the school and the surrounding community. She acknowledged the dedication of Assistant Principal Ms. Halima Noor and expressed appreciation for the academic opportunities provided by AP courses and the strong athletics department.  Overall, Ms. Heiden's speech effectively portrayed Deering High School as "a place for engagement," offering a rich and well-rounded educational experience.
