a note from Julianne Eberl, The PPS Music Director: 
Six members of the PPS High School Orchestra auditioned for the Allstate Honors Music Festival on November 4th.  Deering's Anya Heiden, our wonderful Concertmaster, has been accepted every year since Freshman year.   Students participate from throughout the state of Maine for competitive places in Allstate Band, Chorus, Orchestra Festival, and Allstate Honors Jazz Festival.  It is the most challenging audition, statewide, for students, and involves many months of preparation from May through the audition date.  Students who win the competition will represent our Portland Public Schools' high schools, and our city in the three-day festival held at University of Maine, Orono.  Results will be announced in early December -- stay tuned!
