A Day of Food, Fun & Culture: Deering High School Celebrates!

From artistic expression to athletic competition, students and staff have a multitude of ways to showcase their heritage.

A highlight of Culture day was the ever-popular fashion show, spearheaded by Khalid and Ms. Halima Noor. Students took center stage in the Deering auditorium, proudly displaying their traditional attire, creating a showcase of vibrant colors and cultural richness.

The music room transformed into a space for rhythmic exploration under the guidance of Ms. Hutchins, offering drumming workshops.  Mr. Jellison continued the tradition of the "Real Black Talk" series, featuring a guest speaker connected to the Boston Celtics, around the topic of  cultural and social issues.

Adding a touch of entertainment, Make It Happen presented culturally diverse films like Moana and Coco. The festivities extended outdoors, with lawn games and traditional Highland games taking place on the front lawn and Memorial Field.

The day culminated in a celebratory feast organized by Ms. Sawyer and several staff members. Tables adorned with flags from around the world offered a delectable selection of diverse cuisines, providing a fitting finale where the "Ramily" came together to share a meal, celebrate both the unique and the common threads that bind us.
