Library

The goal of the school library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. Our school library media program will provide intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats; provide instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas; and work with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students.

PPS Student Guidelines for Navigating Generative AI with Integrity

ZONE 1 - Student submits the assignment without the use of AI.

ZONE 2 - After considering the assignment, student consults Al for brainstorming purposes then completes the assignment.

ZONE 3 - Student constructs a draft/first version, uses Al for feedback for improvement and completes the assignment.

ZONE 4 - Al generates multiple responses. Student selects the best parts of each response, then edits and completes the assignment.

ZONE 5 - Al generates a response. Student edits the response and completes the assignment.

ZONE 6 - Al generates a response. Student copies the response and completes the assignment

Academic honesty is an imperative quality and expectation which is necessary to engage in rigorous academic work that will lead to achievement. The use of generative Al tools may be allowed or prohibited in certain circumstances, depending on the specific lesson plan or assignment,
as determined by the teacher. Generative Al is defined as a type of artificial
intelligence (AI) that can create content, including text, images and audio. When allowed, the Al-generated content must be properly credited as a source. Any permitted use must include proper attribution and citation of the generative Al used. This may include acknowledgment of the Al tool used, and/or, in some cases, additional documentation such as student reflections on how the Al output was used or draft histories showing the evolution of the work.
